65th Anniversary Meeting and Ladies Post-circle Charter Dinner.

On Monday 12th March 2018, South Liverpool Circle held its 65th Anniversary Meeting and Ladies Post-circle Charter Dinner.

Over 70 Brothers, their wives and guests celebrated the occasion. 44 Brothers attended the Circle meeting, including as our honoured guest GB National President Peter Rogers. Also visiting was Provincial President Owen Ward, President of City Liverpool Michael Burke, President of Birkenhead Terry McLaughlin and 14 Brothers from Birkenhead, City of Liverpool, Liverpool (No4), Ormskirk and St Helens Circles.

The Ladies and Guests, including the Circle’s Chaplain, The Right Reverend Bishop Thomas Williams and the Reverend Ray Burke, joined the Brothers for the celebratory Dinner. The Hallmark Hotel served an excellent dinner of Pate, Roast Beef and Sticky Chocolate Pudding which was enjoyed by all.

After Dinner, Brother President welcomed all with a short speech outlining the foundation of the Circle in 1953. Then Provincial President Bro. Owen Ward presented a cheque to Mrs Julie Zafari, representing the Marie Curie Hospice Liverpool. The cheque was presented in memory of Bro. Jim Burke, Circle President in 2016/17, who passed away in 2017 and spent his last days at Marie Curie. At Province 4’s Mass for Deceased Members held in Liverpool Hope University Chapel, in November 2017, a collection was taken for Marie Curie in Jim’s memory.
