Family Bowls 2014

Many thanks to Brother Peter Colvin for organizing the Family Bowls on Sunday 29th June at the Childwall Abbey PH bowling green.

A good time was had by Brothers, family and friends at this pleasant and relaxed occasion where the competitive spirit was shining through! The victors were Brother David Willson and his wife Avis who were more surprised than anyone that they won! They had only popped out for Sunday lunch and a social chat with other Brothers and their wives but ended up being the receipients of the very pleasing cut glass trophy for 12 mths and two smaller cut glass trophies to keep; two bottles of wine cushioned the shock!! Final score 9 – 8.

A hard contest with very good players en route, culminated in the final between Brother David and Avis against worthy opponents Brother Charles Boulton and his brother John. John had flown over from Canada and was more than happy to take part.

A delicious roast lunch in the Childwall Abbey dining room was enjoyed by all in very amiable company.

The order of events had been painstakingly and successfully planned by Brother Peter. In the words of James Bond: ” Nobody does it better ! ” Thank you Peter.
