Cartmel Races – July 2014
After a very warm and humid week, Saturday 19th July dawned very stormy, warm and wet for our annual day at the races!
22 brothers and their wives, led by our President, Charles Boulton, braved the weather and the M6 to enjoy an enjoyable if somestimes wet day. All gathered in the centre of the course and the afternoon started with an al fresco Picnic lunch. Large umbrellas were required for part of the afternoon but this did not spoil the spectacle of the racing on Cartmels unique course. Success was enjoyed by a few brothers, others were not so lucky!
Racing over, all retired to the Kings Arms in Cartmel village (only a short walk away) for a much anticipated evening meal. We were not disappointed with the excellent food and service. All agreed the day was a great success and continues the tradition of the Circle’s annual day at the races. We look forward to next year.
Our thanks to Brother Charles Boulton for organising an excellent day out.
