Our very own Family Quiz

When it was announced way back in the middle of March 2020 that we were to be in ‘Lockdown’, one of our Brothers made us a superb offer. Bro. Paul McCarthy is an experienced Quiz Master and asked us if we would like to take part in a Daily Email Family Quiz.

The response was immediate. Approximately 65 people asked to join in via email and they in turn asked their friends and family if they would like to receive the questions. Most participants are local but others live elsewhere, even abroad.

The quiz: Bro. Paul sends us 5 questions every day via email, we email him back with our answers and he then sends us the correct answers every evening. Not only that, ‘Winners’ (those with all answers correct) are contacted by Paul individually every day! This is quite a commitment and we are very grateful to him.

Paul also organises post-circle quizzes for us. These are longer, with 30 questions on 6 topics and are also very popular.

What does Paul ask us about? The questions are often topic-based and have included geography, history, politics, theatre, showbiz, names, music, cinema and many more, so there is something for everyone. The questions are not too hard – but he does include some tricky ones – and there are almost always several people who get everything correct each day.

Has the quiz ever been ‘too hard’?? Well, on Friday, 27th July 2020, the unexpected happened and this elicited the following response from Quiz Master Paul:

“The quizzes began on 27th March. In nearly 4 months this is the first day when no one has scored a full house”.

Here’s a few examples:
