Peter Colvin – 19th April 2020
80th Birthday, 40 years a Brother

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETER FROM BOB & LIZ
Peter COLVIN Joined Catenians 04/02/1980
He was on Council for most of that time and was President 3 times, 1991-92, 1992-93 and 2002-2003. He then moved on to be our Treasurer from 2010 to the present. His background in banking (Williams and Glynns) enabled him to be a very efficient guardian of the Circle’s finances.
Bro. Raymond Ahearn congratulated Bro. Peter on the excellence of the accounts, saying that ‘they were outstanding and very easy to read and understand’.
I remember that he and Marion went on the circle visit to the Isle of Man in 2005 when we were blessed with superb sunny weather.

He and Marion were very active socially in the Catenians and this is a photo of Marion and her niece, Hannah, in the conservatory at the Hallmark.

Marion’s father, Jack Thomas, was also a member of our circle from 1982 – 2002.
Best wishes to you & Marion

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETER FROM DAVID & AVIS
Peter is a very kind, considerate and caring person. He has a genuine concern for welfare and his love and support for Marion is very evident. He is a true gentlemen.
Ever since I joined the Catenians in 2010, Peter has been a stalwart of the Brotherhood and in his support of the Circle. He has never wavered in his support as a committed member of Council. He told me that for all but four years of his forty years of membership he has held office in the Council and always attempted to take his holidays at a time which did not clash with Circle meetings, in order that he could attend the meetings. I was always struck by his calm demeanour and efficiency with which he undertook the role of Treasurer. Certainly, in my period of office as President, I could rely on his judgement. He always ensured that our Ladies were not forgotten with cards and flowers at appropriate times.
As I said, a true gentleman.
Best wishes to you & Marion

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETER FROM CATHERINE & TONY
We have a very happy memory of a holiday in Provence, organised by Jim McCrossan, that Peter and Marion were also on. We had a lovely lunch with them in a picturesque place on the coast and we all enjoyed sampling Bandol Rose wine.
They were also wonderful supporters of Street Child Africa and helped organise many functions including a very successful auction and many clothes sales.
Best wishes to you & Marion

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETER FROM CHRIS & CAROL
A short note on Peter’s great memory. Many years ago, when Catenians first started giving a rose to all ladies present, Peter handed me a red rose. I said ” why are you handing a red rose to a born and bred Yorkshire girl?” Peter smiled and replaced it with a white rose. Every year after that he never forgot and I always handed me a white rose. Thank you Peter.
Best wishes to you & Marion

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETER FROM JOHN & HELEN
Helen and I fondly remember a fantastic Short break with 164 in Orange a number of years ago. We were fortunate enough to team up with Peter and Marion and enjoyed their company on excursions and dining. At the time Helen had her wrist in plaster having recently fractured it. We consider ourselves fortunate and privileged to have made friends with them which has continued to date.
Best wishes to you & Marion

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETER FROM PAM & JIM
I can remember getting to know Marion as she was sitting next to me as one of the balls. We had similar interests, having both worked in a bank. Another time I was chatting with her at a different ball, when Jim was due to become president. I was asking her for tips and I remember remarking that this would be a good time to update my wardrobe!
Best wishes to you & Marion
