Hello and welcome to The South Liverpool Catenian website. I am sure that like many people you will be saying to yourself, “ Who are the Catenians?” “What do they do?” and “If I like what I read and see on the site, is it an organisation that I, and indeed my family, would like to be a part of?”
The Catenian Association has its origins in the early part of the 20th century and has grown into an international association of Catholic laymen of which we are but a small part here in South Liverpool.
I like to describe us as a group of practising Catholics who pray together and also play together. We are not a pressure group, nor are we a fundraising body, although we do have charitable goals and aspirations. The development of catholic youth is of great importance to us. Members of our Circle support the Catenian Bursary Fund which makes Grants to Catholic Youth, who undertake voluntary work here and overseas. We are a social organisation, open to all practising catholic men over 21 years of age regardless of race, profession or level of income.
We are a Catholic Men’s Organisation and, apart from our monthly one hour meetings, the overwhelming social and spiritual activities of the association are designed for the participation and enjoyment of the whole family and our friends.
As an association we are working hard to expand our membership, many groups have cultivated excellent relationships with the clergy and through pulpit presentations are spreading the Catenian message.
Our website has been created to service and inform three main groups. Firstly we have our current members, their family and friends. Secondly we have the members from other Catenian Circles and their family and friends, and thirdly, and probably most importantly, we want to use it to project a modern and forward looking Association seeking prospective new members, their family and friends via a 21st century medium. Prospective new members are our future and with them we will evolve to meet the needs of generations to come.
Our website has been designed to provide information on our social activities; past present and future. It is also used to provide information about our spiritual activities and information on the many other facets of Catenianism including information about our Association that prospective new members would wish to know about.
It is the intention of The South Liverpool Circle that this site will develop continuously to meet the needs of all who use it. It is also our intention to embrace ideas put forward from all our browsers. Please enjoy your trip to our website and feel free to contact us if there is anything you wish to say, ask or provide feedback on.
Kindest Regards and God Bless,
Jim Reid
