Successful Celebration – 800th Meeting of the Circle – Monday 13th October 2025

A succesful and enjoyable dinner was enjoyed by 73 diners on Monday 13th October to celebrate the 800th meeting of the Circle at Liverpool Cricket Club, Aigburth.

Brothers including visiting Brothers were honoured at the 800th Meeting with the GBNC President, Gerry McCormack attending. Also present at the Circle meeting were David Baldam, GBNC Secretary, Chris Ryan, Province 4 Director and Steve Marston, Provincial President.

Brothers were then joined for the celebration Dinner by their wives and ladies and the guests of the Circle: GBNC President Gerry McCormack and Anna, GBNC Secretary David Baldam, Provincial President Chris Ryan and Anne and Provincial President Steve Marston. Also attending as a honoured guest was the recently installed Archbishop of Liverpool, his Grace John Sherrington.

Brother Circle President Jim Reid welcomed the GBNC President, with a short address. He thanked the GBNC President for attending this 800th Meeting and welcomed him and Anna and the other Circle guests. He spoke about the ethos of the Catenian Association, Faith, Friendship and Family, exampled by our support to young people and the regular attendance at our meetings and especially the success of this meeting.

His Grace, Archbishop John Sherrington, then addressed the gathering. He emphasised his and the clergies support for the Association and the Bursary Fund. He thanked the Circle for his invitation and congratulated the Circle on this special occassion.

GBNC President, Gerry McCormack replied. He thanked the Circle for their invitation and congratulated the Circle on its success in reaching its 800th Meeting. He spoke about the Circles’ history and some of its notable Brothers, illustrating with their contribution to local and national society.

It was an important and significant occassion, enjoyed by all.
